What is a Power Toboggan?
In the late 40’s and early 50’s one of the first single passenger, track driven snowmobiles was created a few miles North of Beausejour by Mike Bosak. He called it a Power Toboggan. This name quickly took hold in Manitoba. CPTC is the oldest running snowmobile race in the world, and was created back in 1963. When the first CPTC races were held, the term power toboggan was quite common. CPTC is the premier snowmobile race in Canada, hence the name Canadian Power Toboggan Championships. To this day many people from Beausejour and the surrounding area still call snowmobiles, power toboggans.
